President's message
Cultivating potential and building belonging to impact our communities
For many, 2022 will be remembered as a year of global economic, environmental and political unrest. While these events shaped our collective history and memory, 2022 was also the year when COVID-19 restrictions eased in many countries and the world finally reopened to in-person engagement, a key driver of educational outcomes.
At Sheridan, we nurture creativity, innovation, curiosity and leadership. The 2023 Community Impact Report is a snapshot of just some of the ways we’re making a difference.
As I reflect on this past year, I feel a deep sense of pride in how we continue to inspire, support and improve our communities and the world around us. We are purposefully cultivating a spirit of belonging and connection for learners and employees who remain steadfast in our vision to offer unparalleled postsecondary education that unleashes everyone’s full potential and empowers people to flourish in — and shape — an ever-changing world.
This report highlights many of the ways that we've delivered on that promise.
Sheridan’s purpose continues to be focused on cultivating human potential and fostering transformation through an unwavering commitment to academic quality and the student experience. We graduated nearly 9,000 highly skilled, resourceful and resilient students from all walks of life in 2023, who are now prepared to make meaningful contributions to society and industry in much-needed ways. They were transformed by their educational experience and are now ready to transform their communities and beyond.
We all want to be part of something meaningful. Sheridan is proud to cultivate productive and meaningful futures. Every learner in our community has access to inclusive, accessible, evidence-based learning supports. The programs we offer continue to respond to an evolving economy and a changing world.
You'll see these themes further developed throughout 2024 as we begin the important work of refreshing our institution’s strategic plan and strengthening its foundation.
I remain deeply grateful for the honour of leading and serving at Sheridan. We have so much to celebrate as we look back at 2023 and I know we’ll continue to anticipate and respond to new challenges in 2024 in ways that foster innovation, creativity and agility.
